Cormorants are well-represented in the region, with very large colonies in the Falklands, South Georgia Island and the Antarctic Peninsula. Ornithologists don't seem to be in complete agreement as to which birds are species and which are subspecies, so I have followed E. Couve and C. Vidal's excellent Birds of Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and the Antarctic Peninsula in identifying the birds shown below.
